Since opening in August, 2009, the Smith River Sports Complex has quickly expanded into a multi-sport facility hosting both local and “out-of-town” events.  These events are not always profitable for the Complex, but they are very important to the economic impact in the community.  We have hosted over 100,000 visitors, and out-of-town events during 2010 brought over $400,000 to the local economy through visitors from over 20 states and 15 countries.  We feel that this was an excellent start, but only the beginning of what the Complex can provide our local economy.  One of the goals of the Complex is to host even more events that attract out-of-town visitors to our area, and the Friends of the Complex has been formed to help make this a reality.  By investing in the growth of the Complex, the Friends contribute to the economic stability of our community.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 each year, which will enable us to continue to recruit and host additional events.  The money raised by the Friends directly impacts the ability of the Complex to bring economically valuable events to our area.
